Position Details

The Trustees of Gammon Theological Seminary (GTS) are pleased to announce the search for the next President-Dean. The search endeavors to elect a visionary leader who is capable of building upon the legacy of Gammon as the “school of the prophets.” Established in 1883, Gammon continues to be a key leader in the progress of the Interdenominational Theological Center’s (ITC) consortium of ecumenical theological seminaries.

Gammon aspires connection with a president-dean who possesses a plethora of skills necessary for advancement of this historically prominent institution. The truth of the nation’s crisis in higher education accentuates the need for a leader who will prioritize student recruitment, stakeholder relations, faculty enrichment, trusteeship, and campus life. Experience in theological education, development, and knowledge of United Methodist Church history, polity, and structure are valuable assets that support the successful candidate.

The home of Gammon is the Atlanta University Center in the heart of Atlanta. It is one of five seminaries of the ITC. Gammon is accredited by both the University Senate and the American Theological Association (ATA) in the United States. The ITC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as well as ATA. While Gammon is historically African American, its students and alumni are racially diverse. Its graduates are identified as some of the most prominent theological leaders of United Methodist churches, conferences, and the Council of bishops. Gammon is a major contributor to the practical vitality and theological prowess of faith-based leadership in North America.
