Constantine (Deno) Curris brings over four decades of outstanding higher education leadership to the search process, with over twenty-six of those years in the role of a university president at three institutions -- ten years at Murray State University, twelve years at the University of Northern Iowa, and nearly five years at Clemson University. In 1999 Dr. Curris was elected President of AASCU, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. He led this association of over 400 public colleges and universities for a decade, after which he began his work in executive search.
Now in his sixth year of higher education search work, Dr. Curris joined AGB Search in 2013, focusing on working with governing boards and search committees seeking leadership for presidential and chancellorship vacancies. He has also conducted several presidential evaluations and served as Co-Director of AGB's Leadership Institutes for Board Chairs and Presidents.
His understanding of higher education’s public responsibilities has been served by his membership on the Iowa Economic Development Commission, the South Carolina Research Authority, The Kellogg Commission on the Future of State and Land-Grant Universities, The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, as well as through non-profit and corporate board membership.
An active Trustee Emeritus of Midway College and Murray State University, Dr. Curris understands well governance and policy issues facing higher education and enjoys working with both lay and professional leadership. He has been engaged in leadership development for the Academy through his work with the Millennium Leadership Initiative and AASCU’s New President Academy.
